I breastfed my son all the way up until he was 18 1/2 months old. At first I just cut him back on his feeding times, and he soon only fed at bedtime, which was a blessing. When the doctor says that most children will break when the colostrum comes in, well just plan on being in that small percent that it doesn't happen to. It didn't seem to bother him at all after he got the initial shock of it. Needless to say he broke off of the breast and he is as healthy as can be. Some people say that you shouldn't nurse past a year but his doctor and the breastfeeding counsler said it was perfectly fine to keep nursing. Anyways he is a healthy 20 month old.
