My husband gets upset and angry at me whenever I cry about anything. I cried one day at Old Country Buffet because I had gotten a cup of hot water and a packet of hot chocolate and I had also gotten a cup of milk and I put the hot chocolate in the milk instead of the water. I started crying and I told him it was ok; that I was just being emotional and stuff, but he still got upset. Sure, we were in a restaurant and it can be a little embarrassing to have your wife crying beside you, but still... I can't help it when I get emotional about anything, but it really makes me feel bad when he gets upset at me. He will stop talking to me and treat me like I did something really wrong. Don't get me wrong: he is not being mean! He just doesn't know how to handle me crying or getting upset at little things. How can I help him get thru this??

Would he read a book about new dads? Maybe try to get him a book on what you're going through, so he can understand a little better, that what you're going through is completely normal and he needs to be supportive of that. If that doesn't work, just try to sit him down and explain that you're going through many changes and mood swings are part of the package deal. Or have your OB talk to him. Maybe it he hears it from a 3rd party he'll be able to except it better?
